Gorge Wind Guide Service is dedicated to helping you have the best windsurfing vacation of your life.

I will pick you up at your lodging in our custom surf Suburban so that you won't need a car.

I will use 12 years of gorge sailing experience (over 1,400 days) and up to the minute weather info to pick the best sailing location out of the dozens of launch sites spread along 70 miles of river. This will get you on the water at a fun and challenging spot without wasting your precious vacation learning about the gorge weather conditions by trial and error.

Gorge Sailing Sites

With Gorge Wind Guide Service you can launch from sites in Oregon and Washington from Rooster Rock all the way to Roosevelt
(sailing at Three Mile Canyon by special arrangement).

The wind conditions can vary greatly at different locations because of the complicated relationship between the cool marine weather generally found on the west side of the Cascades and dryer weather associated with the inland basin. The wind speeds often vary from 15 mph at one location to 45 mph at another spot 30 miles east or west. Launch sites as little as 1 mile apart can have huge swells at one, and small chop at the other.

When the guest is picked up we will discuss the wind and water conditions at that moment (reported from 8 wind sensors spread along the river) and anticipated changes during the day (based on forecasts and daily experience). We will also discuss the level of challenge the guest would like for that day. Our flexibility gives us the opportunity to choose between sites with varying amounts of wind and swell. If the wind is blowing somewhere on the river we have a very strong chance of finding a spot you will enjoy.
